Two appointments later…

My quality of life had plummeted from highly active to immobility. The pain in my leg, knee, lower back, adn ribs were so debilitating. I was unable to spend my time in my studio doing what I most enjoy. My sleep dwindled to a couple hours a night. I have had knee and back issues for at least ten years. I spent a great deal of money on diagnostics, doctor visits and physical therapy – with no relief. I had visited family doctors, orthopedic surgeons, physical therapists, radiologists, osteopathic doctors, and manual chiropractors.

Whole Life Center for Health was an immensely different experience! It is super-personalized, reassuring and tranquil here. I was greeted so warmly and treated like my pain mattered. There aren’t even words to describe how positive my experience has been! On my very first adjustment by Dr. Brian, I felt relief, and I was able to flex my knee for the first time in ten years! My back pain was reduced to a trace of what it was. My whole body relaxed as if to receive the gentle adjustment without resistance.

I now experience better sleep, I can walk up steps without holding the railing, and I can put weight on my leg without pain. My pain and neck pains are minimal now.

I always considered myself strong and healthy, but following what seemed like a prolonged case of the flu 18 years ago, I began to have various health problems. I went to many different doctors, but no one could tell me what was wrong. Pain affected every aspect of my life. It hurt to sit, walk, and lay down on my back. I tried very hard to get my health back with good diet, exercise, and many supplements, but problems continued to develop as my health deteriorated.

Years later my son and daughter also developed health issues, and finally my son was diagnosed with Lyme disease in 2011, and the puzzle fell into place. Chronic Lyme disease is what we are fighting.

If you are very lucky, and a doctor gets you on an antibiotic very fast, it may be possible to avoid Lyme and other tick-borne diseases (co-infection). Chronic Lyme is another story. Even after 2 years on antibiotics, a blood culture showed my son still had Lyme disease in his body. I had relied on Lyme specific herbs, and have come a long way, but my back, rib, and shoulder pain got worse. Lyme literature often recommends chiropractic help, but I tried it years ago with little effect. My daughter suggested Dr. Maria Aumick and Whole Life Center, but I was skeptical.

Finally, I made an appointment, but I wasn’t expecting much. The office staff was very nice, but I remained tense. Then I met Dr. Maria, and was immediately impressed by her warmth and compassion. She gave me the time to express all my concerns, which was worth the visit, even if nothing else could be done for me.

I have been seeing Dr. Maria for over a year and a half, and I am very pleased with how much I have progressed. My pains are much better, and Dr. Maria helps me find other ways to improve my health and quality of life. Along the way, I have recaptured deep joy in my life. I would encourage anyone who has ongoing pain, and needs help recovering their health, to make an appointment at the Whole Life Center.

Before seeing Dr. Brian, I needed to use the wall for support and could only stand for 5-10 minutes at a time. I was told nothing could be done after receiving four shots at pain management, which did not help. I received traditional chiropractic care in the 1990’s, which felt good at the time but didn’t last. After my first adjustment, I walked out standing straight up. I was able to turn my head to the right after my first adjustment, which I couldn’t do for 30 years. My headaches have also stopped. I now go about a month between my adjustments and am confident with my balance while walking, can do all types of yard work, can go from sitting to standing without pain, and can go fishing again. We just had the Best Christmas EVER!!

Our 2 boys, who are diagnosed with autism, have taken off in strides since starting the Standard Process supplements suggested by Dr. Maria. After 2 years of adjustments and a whole foods gluten and dairy free diet our boys have won their health back. But when the Standard Process supplements were added to their daily regime in August, the results were almost immediate. My non verbal 7 year old is now speaking and reading words, his attention to task at school has increased from 5-10 minutes to 20-30 minutes, and has developed a sparkling and funny personality all his own. My 5 yr old is putting 2 words together, loves the attention of his peers, plays with toys, and most of all – – has a mild and pleasant temperment. We are tantrum free!!! Both are just sooo happy! The smiles and laughs are endless….

And now after wishing all these years, our boys enjoyed Christmas as we always had hoped. They took part in family traditions and were ready to bust with excitement over gifts from Santa. They even sat with us at dinner!! No words can express the joy we experienced this holiday season. The break from routine during Christmas vacation is not usually a pleasant one. This year it is pure enjoyment for all of us – the entire family! We have not stopped celebrating….THANK YOU DR. MARIA!
